Activities

Keeping in mind that every child is unique, we offer a range of activities aimed at enriching and nurturing their innate interests and talents. From the sports field to the music and art rooms, it is a joy to see students immerse themselves in the co-curricular activities available. A House system with student leadership gives opportunity to build team spirit and healthy competition. The Student Council and Leadership program is a platform to understand responsible behavior, accountability, and the power to influence.

Overlooking the hills, ponds and open skies, our playgrounds invite students to stretch their limbs, challenging and enjoying themselves in fresh and open surroundings. For those who show talent and interest in pursuing a particular sport, special coaching is provided.

Martial Arts

Students learn martial arts such as Karate, and physical training and long distance running in the mornings to start their day with an infusion of positive energy. They gather around their Sensei or Coach to listen, talk, practice moves and imbibe the philosophy behind them.

Art, Craft, Pottery

With sunlight streaming into the Art Rooms from the hills facing the school in the East, students get their hands dirty exploring different media – painting, printmaking, pottery and recyclable materials among others. Nature walks are often organized so that students can observe and be inspired directly from their natural surroundings.

Yoga

As a healthy counter to the bustle, excitement and activity among the student community, our yoga instructor helps them learn to breathe deeply, relax and create an inner balance with yogasanas, pranayama and asthachal on a regular basis.

Music

From listening to Bach, to delving into the subtle notes of a raaga, our music facilities draw out students to immerse themselves in music – both Indian and Western. Dedicated music teachers and well designed music rooms and the presence of music instruments such as the guitar, violin, harmonium, flute, drums, mridangam, tabla and other string instruments, are an inspiration to students. You can find students walking around campus humming to themselves or you may hear the strains of their guitar strumming!

Theatre

Another much loved area of student life on campus, the drama room or amphi-theatre is where smiling, laughter and a relaxed interaction take place as students and teachers collaborate and rehearse for short plays, skits and full-length plays in English, Hindi and regional languages.

Dance

Be it Bharatanatyam, folk dance or modern dance, students are exposed to a variety of genres –both Indian and international. Through dance students learn to learn movement and the physical extension as a way to explore themselves and participate in performances. All the while learning under the guidance of well-trained instructors. The dance room, equipped with wall-to-wall mirrors, is often buzzing with activity, and is one of the most high-energy hubs on campus, from where students often emerge singing and dancing.

Field Trips

Context is everything. Classroom knowledge and seeing its applications at work or in models are possible through well planned field trips to Bangalore and nearby places. Exposure to exhibits and real working situations gives the students a wider canvass and deeper learning for their minds. They visit Science & Art Museums, the Milk Dairy, Coffee Museum, the Satellite Tracking Centre, Coffee Plantations, Planetariums, historical sites, Camping programs and many more. While building mental bridges between the theoretical and the practical, these also serve as exercises

The World Around Us

Cherishing and celebrating Nature’s bounty is important to all in the Amber Valley community. The Craft classes and the Reap Benefit Workshops enable thinking and executing projects through recycling and reusing material and resources, reduce carbon footprint, and conserve water and electricity. Motivated by the idea of each individual doing their bit, students like to champion these causes through activities like tree planting, composting, prototype building

Student Committees, Clubs, House Competitions

To add to the sense of involvement and excitement on campus, and the fostering of leadership, Student Council, School Newsletter & Editorial Committee, NCC (Air Wing), Scouts & Guides, Student Choir, Drama Fest, Photography, Gardening, Chess, Candle making

Celebrating Curiosity

OVERALL DEVELOPMENT

At Amber Valley, our focused program develops questioning and independent thinkers – individuals who learn from and interact with the world around them through inquiry and an openness to explore and discover.
